WARRNAMBOOL KAYAK CLUB INC. – PADDLESPORTS – SPRINT 

 

Sprint  Information

 

Competitive Discipline

Requirement for paddlers to  have current membership with WKC Inc. (membership fee applies) and current membership with Australian and Canoeing Victoria (membership fee applies).

 

Flatwater Sprint

  • Athletes are competing in racing kayaks and racing canoes:

  • Paddle a straight course, divided in lanes and on calm water.

  • Distances 200 metres, 500 metres, 1000 metres, 5000 metres and 10,000 metres.

 

  • Athletes are competing:

International Level:    Olympic Games (K1, K2, K4))

Australian Level:         Australian Championships (classes K1, K2, C1 and C2)

State Level:                   Victorian Championships. (Classes K1, K2, C1 and C2). Club points system applies.

 

Kayaks and Canoes must be compliant to the class being entered.

 

WKC Inc.

Warrnambool Kayak Club Inc. does not hold annual Sprint races. Dedicated paddlers participate in both Marathon and Sprint races. These athletes train, paddle and compete all year. The Merri River is suitable for on-water sprint training.
